During this quarantine period, I believe I’ve spent more time to spend time exercising as well as furthering my faith life. There are a couple of faith-related items that I’ve been listening, reading and making a use of. And although I’m inherently very selfish about sharing items that I love with anyone else, this one time, I’ll make a pass at it, because you deserve to love these as much as I do.
Here goes everything faith-related that I’ve loved. Some for years, some very recently.
- Daniel (30 Day Devotional)
For about 4 months now, everyday I wake up I listen to this devotional. On my way to work, after I drop my husband at his office, I get 10 to 20 minutes, based on the traffic at that point or how early or late I am to work, to actually decide how I spend my alone time in the car. There’s usually a podcast that I listen to on a weekly basis, however, that particular podcasts has conversations/sermons that are always longer than 30 minutes. And, I prefer to listen to them in a stretch. So, I was looking for something short, sweet, intriguing, thought-provoking and introspective each morning before I begin making major decisions in my day. And, the book of Daniel explained in this 30 day devotional is just that! In the 10 minutes I listen to it, it makes me question my faith and drive me to exercise it each day, just like Daniel. It is so relevant for our times, and I recommend every young adult, listen to this.
- Hope Has a Name – River Valley Church
In the second week of March as I was beginning to plan for worship leading on Easter Sunday, I was searching for a song that we’ve never sung before. That’s when this song truly spoke to me about God, our Hope and how without Him, everything and everyone is in deep distraught. So, if you are at that phase in your life, where you’re seeking solace in the circumstances that you experience right now, let this song minister to you, as it did me, and our church.
- Maverick City Music Vol 1, 2 & 3
Sure, this is not a song! It’s 3 different albums by Maverick City Music. I’m the kind of person who wouldn’t like more than 2 songs in any album, be it a classic Hillsong or Delirious one. But when I say, this album, I truly mean it! It’s probably because of the attitude of worship these worship leaders and song writers exhibited through every single line of this album. The songs spoke to me, made me question my faith, pointing me to my deepest darkest questions about myself, y faith, my insecurities, my choices and leading me straight back to God.
Fun Fact: Vivin and I don’t see eye to eye when it comes to music choices, songs or genre but one special song in here, I introduced to him and he loved it so very much. Listen to all three volumes and I’ve just listed the few favourites I’ve had.
Take Me Back by Dante Bowe & Maverick City Music
One of my favourite Psalms is Psalms 51 and the story connected to it. Each day that I feel like a failed believer, I go back to reading that, and it invokes in me a heart of repentance. Take Me back sung by Dante Bowe and Maverick City Music has that same effect on me. I will forever love this song.
No More to Say! This song is Precious!
Refiner feat. Chandler Moore & Steffany Gretzinger – Maverick Music City
Refiner expresses a strong love, thirst and desire for God and to be in His presence & service each day. This is the one song I keep going back to each day, every day, the first thing every morning. This sets precedence in my life, over everything else.
Promises feat. Joe L Barnes & Naomi Raine – Maverick City Music
Promises is just a pure praise song that recounts life of your ancestors and His faithfulness for ages. It speaks of God’s unfailing love for his best creation, you & I.
Man of Your Word feat. Chandler Moore & KJ Scriven – Maverick City Music
Man of Your Word reinstates and reiterates, the relevance of The Word! The song is so simple, yet so beautiful and powerful. It speaks of faith, and ignites that burning coal of a first love moment that you’ve experienced with God. It makes you wanna dance (even if you are the worst dancer), losing all inhibition because of the power of The Word and the conviction you have through it.
Also, those boys have the best voices! Total Fan Girl-ing!
You Keep On Getting Better feat. Majesty Rose – Maverick City Music
You Keep On Getting Better is a song of celebration, testimony and reaffirming of God’s goodness. This song becomes beautiful, the more you grow in your faith each day. You’ll truly enjoy this, as you get to know the Lord more each day.
There truly was more I could add to this list. I actually have a wonderful list of faith driven content just for you, but I believe these songs and the devotional will give you at least a month worth of inspiration to feel, experience & exercise your faith.
Take time to go through this list, and leave your experiences with this in the comment section below. Share this particular post with all your friends who might just be needing this during these hard times. Every life matters, so don’t be selfish, pass on God to them.
